My name is Seth Jared, and I have used HostGator since 2010, when I launched my first website on filmmaking (filmschoolsecrets.com). I liked Hostgator compared to other hosts because they allowed for monthly payments instead of having to pay everything up front. I also liked that they had the option of month to month membership that could be cancelled whenever I wanted instead of having to sign a 1 or 2 year contract like joining a gym. During the last 2 years, I’ve hosted as many as 15 sites at a time one Hostgator and had no major problems. My main site has fortunately had a good amount of traffic and I have members in the membership site and never had any complaints about the site being unavailable or running slow, etc.
Tech support has been good on the phone. If I ever have a problem I usually get a human being on the line within a 5 minutes. Over the net is good as well; there were a couple of times I didn’t feel like calling to ask a question and the IM chat reps were available immediately. They also helped me move one of my WordPress sites from another host to their host without charging me anything; I heard some other hosts do charge for that service. I was worried it would be a major pain but they were very helpful and it ended up only taking about an hour. I tried a couple of other hosts during the last 2 years but finally consolidated all my sites on to Hostgator, it’s my go to host.
