HostGator is incredibly reliable

I’ve been using HostGator to host many of my sites since 2008. I’m currently on the Baby plan at $9.95 per month and use the plan to host my blog and about 6-7 other sites of mine.

This is actually what I like the most about HostGator; the ability to host multiple websites under one shared account. It is pretty straightforward with the add-on feature in CPanel admin panel. So far, hosting there has been great. I’ve never experienced downtime nor had any of my sites get hacked. Most of my sites run with WordPress, and HostGator is pretty good for hosting WordPress sites. They have the Fantastico auto-installer which helps install automatically software like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla etc, but I’m more “old school” and prefer installing WordPress manually through FTP, and it works great for me.

I can’t say much about HostGator’s customer service, since I can’t recall having ever had to contact them. My sites are fairly straightforward, and, as I said, I’ve never had any technical problems. As far as billing goes, I like the fact that HostGator accepts Paypal. They basically send a email every month, saying your bill is ready, you log in into your HostGator account, and you can pay it by credit card or Paypal.

All and all, HostGator is a reliable host and one that I’m not afraid to recommend. As far as I’m concerned, I would give them 5 on 5.
