I have been with HostGator for two years. Overall, my experience with this host has been nothing short of amazing. The first web host that I ever used was GoDaddy. I switched to HostGator because my websites hosted at GoDaddy experienced major downtime. I also left GoDaddy because their user control panel is ridiculously hard to navigate. I had more problems with GoDaddy than I can even remember. HostGator has been very good to me.
Customer Service
Whenever I have had a problem with anything, even minor, HostGator’s customer support has solved it for me. I remember I had a couple problems with billing and my account being suspended in the first few months of service with HostGator, but I contacted support and all problems were corrected swiftly. Both the live chat and the phone support from HostGator is outstanding. There has not been a single problem that HostGator support was not able to fix for me.
Server Uptime
Since I do a lot of SEO, I know that server uptime is very important for good rankings in Google. I don’t check server uptime nearly as in-depth as some people, but I have never had any problems at all when working on my website like I did when hosting at GoDaddy. For me, speed and load time is just as important as server uptime, and my website loads very fast for being on a shared hosting plan.
User Interface
Since HostGator uses the standard cPanel setup for shared hosting, I have no problem accomplishing any tasks that I need completed. I love cPanel because it makes everything easy from email to backups, and HostGator has made a wise choice offering cPanel to their customers. After using cPanel, I can never go back to GoDaddy’s horrifying user interface.
