[starreview tpl=16]One day I had the inclination to set up a blog. After a bit of research, I settled on HostGator as the best Host for what I wanted to achieve.
I am using a dialup configuration, but HostGator was still accessible and provided details for getting started. I purchased a minimum package and waited a few days for confirmation. This host’s rates are extremely reasonable and their services, I am convinced, are world class.
Soon after I set up my Website, I discovered that technical problems are a constant element of maintenance. Communicating with HostGator through their “ticketing” procedure was easy, but the responses I received were full of tech-speak that was way out of my league.
HostGator provides an incredible service, but their user controls and options are only navigable by people who have extensive experience with the ins-and-outs of maintaining a Website. This is true even if all you are doing is posting a blog.
All my concerns were addressed promptly and followed with either a phone call, or email. Still, the staff at HostGator is obviously suited best for expert Web users, not everyday people wanting to get started with a brand new experience with a personalized Web presence. I would recommend HostGator with absolute confidence to someone with a high level of technical knowledge only!
My rating for HostGator, based on limited experience and a few technical problems, is a full 4 Stars! I believe they are a great company, but not necessarily for the beginning blogger.
