To be quite blunt, I do not recommend using GoDaddy as a host. I will say however, that they do have a decent domain marketplace, especially their auction section. Be sure to transfer any domains you buy to a better registrar after purchasing. The marketplace is the ONLY reason I gave them a 2 instead of a 1, though it doesn’t have too much to do with hosting which is indeed a 1. Their pricing isn’t too bad, but you don’t get much for that price. I have experience horrible downtime with my sites, much more frequent than I have ever seen with a host. Yes, I have messaged support and after days and days of waiting I get the response that they are currently taking care of the issue. A few more weeks went by and the problem persisted. This leads me to the topic of their support system, it’s pretty slow. It will take at least a few days before you hear any sort of response. Usually their response is something you have to clarify, so you reply and then will have to wait a few more days for theirs. Customer service is one of the most important factors in a successful business, yet GoDaddy doesn’t seem to understand that. The interface you have to use to manage your websites is quite annoying to use, and pretty slow on top of that. Simply adding a sub-domain to my website took roughly 10-15 minutes. If you search for reviews on GoDaddy elsewhere, you will see that there are more bad than good. I’d recommend avoiding then at all costs. They will try to get you with their coupon codes, but in the end it just isn’t worth the trouble and frustrations they will cause you. If you can, go with a company like HostGator or BlueHost as I personally find them to be the best in their field.
