A buddy of mine approached me about being his IT guy for a blog site he was launching. One of the first technical hurdles I encountered was where to have the website hosted. Without a doubt, the site would have to be based on WordPress which is the de facto tool for blogs, and the web hosting company I would recommend would have to be one with a good reputation of hosting WordPress blogs.
I chose the site from a list of recommended sites at wordpress.org. I called different sites but ended up selecting BlueHost.com because they were both knowledgeable and capable of scaling should our blog take off in terms of hits. BlueHost is a rising company that still has their small company roots where they know their customers and attend to them with care. I was told they’re growing fast and have hired dozens of employees over the past year. To me, BlueHost seemed similar to a small company I worked with in the 1990s: mobile, attentive, and growing.
I myself had little background in blogging much less in WordPress. My account manager suggested I buy a block of time for training purposes and that ended up being so helpful for me to get started. I was able to fast track my learning and ask questions directly pertaining the issue technical issues I was encountering. The technical person showed me the ropes on the WordPress management console. I definitely felt like I had made the right choice with this company. I never recommend something I’ve not used myself. I recommend BlueHost.
