My name is Frank C. and here’s my review of BlueHost’s web hosting service. I have several websites hosted on BlueHost (via shared servers) but here I’ll talk about just one of my websites, Coloring.us.com.
Generally speaking, I like BlueHost. I’m a bit of an advanced webmaster so I find their service fairly easy to use and I particularly like that they don’t “clutter up” the ordering process to sell you extra services you’re not interested in. I also like their competitive prices for domain names and hosting.
As part of their web hosting services, BlueHost offers many features including statistics on your visitors, email, multiple domain hosting (in fact, the domain name I’m basing this review on is one of several domains on my BlueHost account), multiple sub-domains, databases, file transfer and much more. I can’t recall ever having any downtime on my BlueHost account (that’s not to say it’s never happened, however).
One of the dings on BlueHost, based on my own experience, is that if you’re one of those people who need to be held by the hand, BlueHost might not be your best choice. I’ve only had to use their support a couple of times, which worked out for me because I was generally on my own–although I did get a response once to a question I asked but there was no follow up afterwards (in fairness, I add that the BlueHost support staff person who responded to me did answer my question).
To sum up, BlueHost offers great web hosting services at a great price, especially if you’re an experienced webmaster who rarely needs help from your web host.
