My name is Ryan Comte and BlueHost hosts my photography website, ryancomte.com. I have been with BlueHost for almost 4 years and I have to say, they do a great job. I have had several issues and working with their knowledgeable staff has been a pleasure. There have been outages, unforeseen by them (power outages, etc.) and they were able to get my sites back online quickly and efficiently. Although outages are bad for business and any time it’s down means I’m not doing business, they have always worked hard to make sure that I am taken care of and am back up as soon as possible. I won’t name names, but I have had a few hosts that have had a ton of outages and my site would be down for days! I would try to contact their tech support and would end up on the phone for hours with absolutely no response and no reason as to why my site was down. BlueHost offers a service where you can access a tech at anytime through chat. That is much better than trying to sit on the phone, waiting for someone to answer and crossing your fingers they speak English.
BlueHost help me set up a class project with Joomla. I couldn’t find why my latest version of PHP was not working and the tech was able to change my .htaccess file and had me up and running in minutes. It saved me a lot of time and headache and I was able to get the assignment on time.
Although the servers are shared, I never see lag in my bandwidth; even in peak times. BlueHost is even going to start offering Virtual Private Servers which will be a great addition if you are worried. All and all, I would give BlueHost a 5 and would recommend it to anyone who wants affordable, reliable hosting.
